SEMINAR ON “INTEGRATION TENDENCIES OF ARMENIA”

On 17-19 October 2014 YSPS 3-day seminar on “Integration Tendencies of Armenia” was held in Jermuk, Armenia. The event gathered YSPS participants, prominent experts as well as YSPS alumni of different years.

In general the seminar distinguished with its high representation of international and local experts, high-ranking officials and diplomats. Particularly H.E. John Heffern, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Armenia, Mr. Mårten Ehnberg, Chargé d’Affairs, Embassy of Sweden in Armenia, Mr. Shavarsh Kocharyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and other prominent experts of Armenia.

It can clearly be stated that there is no other such platform in Armenia where the speakers could be so open and frank, and no other audience where the participants could be so informed about the European and Eurasian directions of Armenian Foreign policy, developments and development scenarios in Eastern Partnership countries, the USA-Armenia current relations, global economic developments as well as about the new processes of transformations in middle east. The seminar was a very effective platform for practical transformation, understanding and reflection as well as for meeting the specific goals of providing young mid-career individuals with awareness, knowledge, capacity and skills.

At the end of the event, as cultural part of the seminar YSPS delegation was hosted in Noravank, medieval spiritual centre of 14th century where Noravank Spiritual Father Ter Sahak Martirosyan made a presentation on Dialogue between the Religions (Christianity and Neighbour Muslims) in the Medieval Era as well as organized an excursion.
