“FIRST TIME VOTERS” AWARENESS RAISING PROJECT
LAUNCHING OF MOCK ELECTIONS IN HIGH SCHOOLS OF ARMENIA


On 18 November 2016 the launching of mock elections was held in Yerevan High School N198 in the framework of the “First Time Voters” awareness raising project.

Pupils and teachers of the school were welcomed by H.E. Mr. Piotr Świtalski, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, Mrs. Natalia Voutova, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan and Mr. Armen Zakaryan, Director of the Yerevan School of Political Studies.

Special webpage designed for the project was presented, its usage and function was explained (ftv.ysps.am).

The project is implemented in all 110 high schools of the Republic of Armenia.

“First Time Voters” awareness raising project aims to inform young generation on electoral systems, the rights and obligations of voters, functions of state institutions. The project bridges the gap between theory and practice by giving high schools’ pupils an opportunity to experience the electoral process for the first time in their schools.  

The project will develop a politically mature and informed citizenry as well as enlightened electorate and will guide, empower and encourage first time voters to exercise their rights and participate in the electoral process.

“First Time Voters” awareness raising project is implemented by the Yerevan School of Political Studies of the Council of Europe and is funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe as part of the “Long-term electoral assistance to the election related stakeholders in Armenia” project.
