The inauguration ceremony of 2014-2015 study year of the Yerevan School of Political Studies was held on 20 September 2014 in Yerevan, Armenia. This meeting brought together YSPS participants, alumni and experts.

Welcoming speeches were delivered by Mr. Armen Zakaryan, YSPS Director, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski, Director of Policy Planning of the Council of Europe, Mr. Shavarsh Kocharyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, high-ranking YSPS alumni and others.

The speakers stressed the importance of the Yerevan School of Political Studies stating that YSPS contributes to the formation of democratic systems in Armenia.  Ambassador Piotr Świtalski congratulated the participants of the new study year emphasizing that by participating in this valuable initiative participants become part of a bigger family – family of the Schools of Political Studies. He also stated that YSPS participants and alumni are considered to be informal ambassadors of the Council of Europe in Armenia.

“YSPS has a great contribution in the formation of Armenian elite,”- says Mr. Kocharyan pointing the fact that many ministers, governors and deputies graduated YSPS course.  

The launching ceremony was followed by the presentations and lectures. Topics like Europe - the threat of new divisions, current situation, democracy and security in modern world were debated and discussed.
